This weekend was one of the nicest weekends we've had in a long time. The weather was fantastic and I think that set the tone for all around feel-goodness. On Saturday, we started our day by purging the house of 2 bags of stuff for donation and 1 box of personal stuff to be shredded. I only wish I had prepped more so I could have donated and recycled even more stuff for Cupertino's Environmental Day - the only day of the year where you can haul in as much stuff in your car and drop it off for recycling or donation for free. It felt good to not only cleanse the house of even a little bit of junk, but also save Mother Earth from any additional landfill madness and hopefully, bring some family somewhere a choice of really nice clothes!
Afterward, we decided to head to the zoo. Bennett has been asking for a zoo visit for weeks now, and in spite of the 90 plus degree heat, there was no better way to spend the day than with my family, staring at elephants and looking for hyenas. We followed up the zoo with a hot fudge sundae and called it a day! Oh but wait. There's more. J even cooked up some chicken afritada for dinner that night. I know! Divine!
Today we took B to the park and then later, tried to get him to take a nap. Normally it takes about 10 minutes to fall asleep, but today he would have none of it. Not. Tired. At. All. So no nap all day. God, I hope this isn't the beginning of him losing the only nap he has left in the day. I could tell he needed the rest though because when he gets over-tired, he's like the Energizer Bunny. He is all over the place, chatting away a mile a minute. At Trader Joe's today, while waiting for his Dad to pay, we stood just outside the exit. Bennett could be the next Walmart Greeter - he greeted everyone that was leaving with "Hi! I'm Bennett! I went to the zoo!!!!!"
Maybe that's it. Maybe he was just so excited about the zoo excursion that he couldn't sleep today and he just HAD to tell everyone that he finally went. I'm exhausted though. This evening, Bennett came to me before going to bed and said "Daddy said not to bother you because you are bee-laxing."
Yes. Bee-laxing. And life IS good.
