Very sad news today. Bennett's great aunt (his Grandpa Ody's sister), Auntie Julie, passed away this afternoon. She has only been in the U.S. a few years (her sister petitioned her over 20 years ago and just recently did she get her visa to come), and she suffered from Parkinson's Disease. She was here for Bennett's baptism and his first birthday, and we saw her on one or two other occasions - she was always smiling and she seemed to like Bennett alot. Grandpa Ody has seven siblings in his family and Auntie Julie is the second sibling to pass away. Before coming to the States, she had had a stroke and fell into a coma. The doctors in the Philippines had told my other aunt that she wouldn't come out of it, that her hospital stay would just be costing them money so they took her home. Wouldn't you know it, once she arrived home, she woke up from her coma. And then the visa came and she and my other aunt Myrna were able to come here.
We will be attending her viewing this week and she will be accompanied back to the Philippines, where her children are waiting for her, this Friday. The rest of the family are on their way up from L.A. But you know what I find weird? If you read the post from yesterday, I had singled out a page from a book I was reading to Bennett about families. It was about losing a family member.
Goodbye, Auntie Julie. We will miss you.
