Mom to the Rescue

My mother is in town to help us pack (she is the Queen of packing!) She brought with her a box of her "Obama cookies" (formerly known as Food of the Gods) that Bennett has been asking for. They're like chewy, brownies but with no chocholate - just dates and walnuts I believe. Delicious! Mom likes to take the train whenever possible, so she ended up taking the Midnight Express (ok I don't know what the name of the train is that comes from Sta Barbara to hear, but Midnight Express sounds like a good name, yes?) or something which dropped her San Jose Amtrak on Monday at 4:30am.

I worked from home on Monday and got alot done, while Mom packed. When I pack, I spend hours recounting the memories associated with this item or that item. Oh! That blue baby blanket! That's the one I brought Bennett home in from the hospital. Oh look! My college yearbook! The packing gets done, but slowly. With Mom it's easy and fast. She just wraps all the like items and in the box it goes. I woke up this morning and I just couldn't believe it. All the boxes and crap that was all over the house? Gone. Last night while we were sleeping she moved every single box into the garage. I still can't get over it. I need some of her moxie.

At this rate, we may be able to move our stuff into storage here sooner and Operation Sell Our House begins! Painters, handymen, plumbers, etc will soon have their way with this old house and help it look like the "Charming 4-bed, 2 1/2 bath Gem" that it is.
