I Got Peanuts In My Ear

Yesterday sure was fun. Bennett stuck the antenna of his remote control car controller into his ear. At the tip of it was a big chunk of ear wax. Yuck! J& I thought he might have pushed more wax further into his ear so we tried to loosen it up with some warm water in the bath. Still, he continued to cry and pull at it, complaining that it hurt. At one point he even said "I got peanuts in my ear." Hmmmm. So off to the doc we went.

Our regular doctor wasn't there so we got another doctor who turned out to be wonderful. She was soooo good with Bennett. I liked her so much I felt like I was cheating on his regular pediatrician ;0 Bennett now protests when he knows he is going to the doctor - and he especially hates it if they have to look into his ears or his mouth -- which, of course, is always. To put him at ease, she told him she wanted to look at his good ear first - to "see" if there were any cats or dogs in there. That stopped his whining right then and there. She peeked inside and said "woof!" Bennett giggled and I knew the rest would be easy. Then she said she was going to peek in the other ear - the sick ear - and asked Bennett what animal did he think she'd find? Another dog? A cat? A horse?

Bennett yelled "SHEEEP!!!!!:

And sure enough there was a "Baaaaa, baaaa" which had Bennett giggling even more! Turns out, he had some minor scratches from the antenna but the real issue was another ear infection (which is likely why he put the darn thing in his ear in the first place).

I'm sure this won't be the last time Bennett sticks strange objects in his ears or up his nose.
