Observations of a 20 month old

Hi all. Sorry I've been slacking on the blogging. I always feel like I should post a picture with each post, and my camera has been out of juice for days now so I don't have any pictures to show. Now that we have a three day weekend coming up, maybe I'll finally get around to it.

Bennett's been doing well. He had another biting incident at his daycare. Apparently over crackers. Yes, crackers. Of course J and I never like to hear that Bennett is biting anyone and we start to get all worried that we're not giving him enough attention, or not doing this right or that right. I know someday, some other kid will end up biting him back. And that will be the end of that.

Next week he will be 20 months old. His latest obsession, as I think I've mentioned before, is watching Barney. He is constantly requesting Barney - the very minute he wakes up. It used to be when he woke up, he'd ask for milk. Now he asks for Barney, screw the milk. I have to admit, I've fallen into the trap of using Barney to conveniently buy myself some time to take a shower, or get dinner on the table. But today, as we were watching his millionth episode of Barney, we got to a particular scene that he loved and he wanted me to rewind, so he turns to me and points at the remote and says "Mommy! Mote! Mote!" Our 20 month old knows the word for REMOTE. Oh dear. Too much TV. Must stop now.

I'm finding out that it is actually really hard to keep a 20 month old entertained the whole day. WE take walks, go the park, run errands together, read books, sing Itsy Bitsy Spider. I think this weekend I'm going to break out the finger paints that his Aunt gave him for Christmas.

Bennett prefers to eat with us at the table now, in a real chair. No booster seat, no high chair. So the table comes up to his neck but that's ok with him. Unless his daddy is there, then he prefers to sit on his lap and eat.

He also recently started doing the strangest thing...he started walking hunched over like a caveman, and then squats, and then walks again all hunched over. I thought he hurt himself at first and then I heard him. He kept saying "ribbit" -- aha! A frog!

Bennett is also a little clean freak. Today, while on the potty, he asked for a wipe and started scrubbing the walls. Talk about multitasking. And when I asked him to put his dad's shoes in the corner, where all the other shoes were, he picked them up (and said "Hebby!") and puts them in the corner. Only instead of dumping them there, he makes sure they're nice and straight and perfectly parallel. A little bit of his Lola in him you think?

Don't worry about posting pictures every time! I love just hearing how your days go...since we have a chance to talk so rarely. It's how I keep up with y'all!!

He just gets cuter and cuter. And every single parent I know thought they would NEVER use the tv as a babysitter, and then they do. Don't sweat it!!!
