Bennett has discovered what Michael Jackson figured out long ago...(and if any of you are thinking of cracking some joke about little boys here - stop now!). No, what he discovered is walking backwards can be fun! I noticed him doing this more and more this week - at first without looking behind him which caused a couple of crash and burns. Now with a little more caution, but always with a big old smile on his face.
He's also taking it up a notch on the reading front. Before, he would pick out all his favorite picture books - the ones that have pictures of things with the word for it underneath. He loves pointing at each picture and having mom or dad say the word. On a few he'll actually say the word first, namely: doggie and teeeeeeeth!. Or he'll make the sound that goes with it: "rrrrrroar!" for lion or tiger, "choo choo" for train. Or he'll do the action: brush his hair for "hairbrush."
He never sat still for books that had a story - until now. Now he wants me to read Mother Goose tales to him. Over and over. As I'm reading this to him, I kept thinking - how could Peter, Peter Pumpkin eater do that to his wife? How awful, putting her in a pumpkin shell (and the picture that shows up in the book has a lock on the pumpkin shell!). And why is everyone named Jack? Jack be nimble, Jack Sprat, Jack and Jill. And why are they so accident prone: falling down hills and breaking their heads, falling of walls and shattering into pieces. Bennett loves it though. Maybe this is a sign that he will be into horror movies like his dad and Grandpa.
