Sleepless in Seattle

We came back from our first official family vacation to the lovely city of Seattle. We left last Thursday and stayed at the Hotel Monaco downtown which ended up being a great place to base our stay. Plus they gave Bennett a goldfish named Roy to keep him company during his visit. It is also at this hotel that Bennett discovered the magic of drapes.

Turns out Seattle was muggy, humid and of course rainy. I did not expect to walk up so many hills and we brought the cheapo umbrella stroller, which is a funny name considering we were in the rain the whole time and Bennett kept getting wet since there is no cover.

What a great city though! Fresh fruit for Bennett at Pikes Market, fresh pastries for me and John, coffee at the first Starbucks, painted pigs all over the city, colorful dahlias ( a bouquet of them for less than 5 bucks!),ferry ride to Bainsbridge Island, friendly people, the Childrens Museum (Bennet LOVED it though he did bust his lip there when he fell down on a giant whale), the big Japanese supermarket in the International District and walking through Capitol Hill.

The wedding we attended was beautiful. Here are John and Bennett looking real sharp!

Mom, Tita Ellen and the mother of the bride, Ninang Alva reunited at the wedding. They all knew eachother from college where they formed some sort of girl gang called The Apples. Or was it the Cherry Pies? Well here they are, the Former Fruit Femmes:

All in all, a very good trip for us. Bennett was for the most part, an easy traveler. We just had to be sure to have bananas in our pocket for whenever he got hungry and he'd be good to go. It is good to be home though!!!

PS. Today is Bennett's 14 month birthday! The latest milestone:
- he can use the little potty! I never thought I'd be so proud to see our little boy take a poop in the toilet, but I was absolutely BEAMING the first time he did. Ah yes, the first of many accomplishments. Today, toilet poop, then one day...Nobel Peace Prize.
