Bennett in L.A.

We came back from another weekend in L.A., this time to celebrate Bennett's Grandma Ady's birthday and to spend time with Rod, Audie and Malia. We had such a good time!

To celebrate Grandma Ady's birthday right, we took her out to Ciudad, the fancy-schmancy Argentinian (or is it Argentine?) restaurant within walking distance from Mom and Dad's downtown L.A. apartment. Good steak, good music and good drinks (albeit $15 mojitos but hey! Grandma Ady only turns 29 once every year!)

The next day, we took Bennett to the L.A. zoo for the first time. I thought that because he loves looking at Frankie and chasing after him, that he'd really like anything furry with four legs. As it turns out, he just didn't seem that interested at all the animals - yet. I on the other hand, loved watching the mama orangutan carrying her baby on her back.

Bennett got to hang out with his Grandpa too, who drove up from Beaumont just to see him. Bennett likes it when his Grandpa greets him with monkey sounds.

On Friday night, John and I got to go out for sushi with Rodelaine and Audie - without the kids! I wish I had my camera with me at Sushi Zo, the restaurant that they took us to. It was sooooooooooo good. I learned that the proper way to eat sushi was not to dip it into the soy sauce on the rice side. You have to dip the fish side first, and only the corner of it, just a little. After sushi, we went to a place called Pink Berry Yogurt which was PACKED with people, line out the door. The reason? Yogurt that tasted like yogurt, not like ice cream - topped with fresh berries, kiwi, mochi, granola ....mmmmmmmmmm. As Rachel Ray would say: DELISH.

Meanwhile, the kids were at home with the grandparents. Here's Grandma Ady and Lola Ellen ("Lola E") with Bennett and Malia.

I could go on and on about what a great weekend it was. Alot of it revolved around spam. Spam musubi at King's Hawaiian. Fried spam with rice at Rod and Audie's house. Say it again with me: DELISH.

Finally, my favorite moment of the weekend was watching Bennett push Malia in her red wagon across a room. Malia weighs 20 pounds. Enjoy!

Whew! Alot of eating, pushing, and of course in L.A., driving. So good to fly home and sleep.
